About Us:
2001- Los Angeles based fashion designer, Annie Cholakian
had an interesting conversation with her friend Rita Hand about the lack of
attractive hospital gowns available for home care patients. Rita is a nurse
practicioner and is taking care of her own mother at home and her mother needs
to wear a back fastening gown so that Rita will be able to easily easy to dress
her without having to pull something out from under body or over her
head. Annie thinks and thinks about this problem and then SILVER
MOON BAY is born!
Annie comes up with the idea of making the gowns out of a super soft jersey
instead of the stiff woven broadcloth that hospital gowns are usually made of.
She designs them with special details such as embroideries, crochet edges, baby
ring snaps, and even one that looks like an oversized T Shirt with a pocket!
She decides to make them out of a super comfortable and durable cotton / poly
fabric which keeps moisture at bay and which can be machine washed and dried
over and over and still look new!
2002- The company takes off - selling to Hospital gift shops such as the
prestigious Helping Hand Gift Shop at Cedars Sinai Medical Center , UCLA
Medical Center Gift Shop in Los Angeles, Saint Johns Hospital Gift Shop in
Santa Monica California, South Shore Hospital Gift shop in Weymouth,
Massachusetts, and also to quality Home Medical Supply Shops such as
Total Health Solutions in Metarie Louisiana, Andersons Medical in Terre Haute
Indiana, Pico Medical in Los Angeles, Knueppel Healthcare in West Allis,
Wisconsen, and Heckman Health Care in Decatur Illinois, and Complete Care in
Fort Payne, Alabama.
2005 - Silver Moon Bay exhibits at the Essentially Women trade show and finds a
niche for some of it's products in post mastectomy boutiques such as: A Fitting
Place in Memphis Tennessee, Touching You in Hoover, Alabama, and Comfort Care
Pharmacy and Medical Supply in Glendale and Hollywood, California.
2009 Silver Moon Bay adds front placket snap and button front as well as back
opening gowns suitable for labor and delivery and breast feeding and also adds
a collection of adaptive clothing for women with limited movement issues.
Annie's mother suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis and having seen how it is
sometines painful for her mother to have to lift her arms high to pull garments
over her head as well as difficult to fasten the buttons on fly front pants,
she designed these garment to be easy to put on. The pants are asy to pull on
and the tops are made to order with snap tape either in the front or the back
depending on the need.
Annie intends to keep on adding new and innovative ideas to the collection so
